For Sherlock Holmes fans

Stanford University has produced an excellent Sherlock Holmes resource as part of their ongoing series on Victorian authors. It includes a biography of the author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a discussion of Victorian times, and pictures of the era. Start here to explore the author, the times and the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. You can also check the library catalogue to see what is available in KGV.

Guys Read!

Guys Read is a web site dedicated to books for boys. It was started by Jon Scieszka, who says "Boys often have to read books they don’t really like. They don’t get to choose what they want to read. And what they do like to read, people sometimes tell them is not really reading."

This web site picks books for guys, helps them find others and tries to find out what guys like. There are lots of links to author web sites which can tell you more about your favourite books.

World Book Day at KGV was a great success with everyone enjoying reading! The competitions were very popular, although "Guess who's reading" seemed quite tricky for most people. The answers are now on display, and can be seen on the library web site. Click here to see some photos from the day.
